Compensation for cancer hug woman

A Devonshire adult female who developed an incurable asbestos-related cancer from caressing her father as a kid have won her claim for damages.


The Ministry of Defense Mechanism (MoD), which owned Devonport Dockyard when Debbie Brewer's father worked there in the 1960s, settled with a six-figure sum.


A twelvemonth ago Multiple Sclerosis Brewer was diagnosed with mesothelioma and docs gave her between six and nine calendar months to live.


She said the money have given her some peace of head for her family's future.


The mod have acknowledged her lone contact with the deadly matter was as a child, hugging her father when he came place from work as a dawdler at Devonport Dockyard in Plymouth.


Ms Brewer have three children, including a 10-year-old son, Kieran, who have learning difficulties.


She said ideas about his hereafter are painful.


"I desire to be here for him and I don't cognize if I will be, but I mean to be here and fighting this cancer," she said.
